Merchant and Mills The Factotum Bag Pattern $31.95
A neat cross body bag, small but copious. Factotum has been designed to hold all your daily essentials. Fully lined, with two front pockets and a zipped closure. You can use leather or webbing for your strap.
Finished measurements length 20cm, width 30cm, depth at widest point 12cm.
All seam allowances are 1cm unless otherwise stated.
Skill level - intermediate.
Fabric suggestions - oilskin, dry oilskin, mid-heavy weight cotton canvas or drill, mid weight denim (8-14oz). For the lining we would suggest using either our 5oz organic dry oilskin, half panama cotton, or barrier lining. You can see all of these by clicking on the suitable fabrics tab.
We have an online class with a step by step guide on how to make the Factotum which can be purchased here.
*Please note we have now changed pattern printers. Our patterns are now printed within Europe, the pattern paper is 70gsm white (FSC® certified) and is made only 180km away from the printers. Our instructions now come in booklet format rather than A3 sheets. The paper is PEFC/01-31-126 certified.

Leather strap - 2.5cm x 98cm (View 1)
Webbing - 2.5cm x 98cm (view 2)
Rivets - 4 x 9mm
Loops - 2 x 2.5cm
Zip - 1 x 30cm
When inserting the rivets we recommend using a very solid surface like a cement floor so there is no movement.
For the loops we have two options, these or these. The 1" ones offer a snug fit and the 1.25" ones allow for a bit more movement, it's a personal preference.
