$31.95

The Costermonger is the essential market tote designed as a backpack. Fill it up with wholesome goodies, leaving your hands free to tickle your dog. This is a simple satisfying sew that uses little fabric so ideal for using up some of your stash or making as a present. The instructions show you how to make it with leather or webbing.

Finished measurements length 45cm, width 40cm.

All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless otherwise stated.

Skill level -beginner.

Fabric suggestions - Oilskin, Dry Oilskin, Mid-Heavy weight Cotton Canvas or Drill, Mid weight Denim (8-14oz). All hardware, leather and fabric suggestions can be found by clicking on the 'suitable fabrics' tab.

*Please note we have now changed pattern printers. Our patterns are now printed within Europe, the pattern paper is 70gsm white (FSC® certified) and is made only 180km away from the printers. Our instructions now come in booklet format rather than A3 sheets. The paper is PEFC/01-31-126 certified.

Fabric Requirements: (this is an unlined bag)

80 - 98cm wide - 0.95M

98 - 150cm wide 0.70M

Leather Strap Version:

Rivets 9MM x 8.

Metal sliders 1" (we recommend using these) x 4

Leather Strap 1" x  2 (if you are buying our leather straps they come about 145cm long so you will need two of these). We find the split cowhide leather straps move the smoothest through the sliders.

Matching thread.

When inserting the rivets we recommend using a very solid surface like a cement floor so there is no movement. You will just need a hammer to set the rivets, but you will need something to make a hole in your leather, we recommend a revolving hole punch.

Webbing Version:

Metal sliders 1" x 2. The sliders you need will slightly depend on the webbing you use, if you are using our plain webbing or Long Road webbing these loops work the best.

Webbing 3CM wide x 1.6M. We recommend our Long Road, or Plain Webbing.

Matching thread.
